Largest recreational expansion in recent history.
The Department of the Interior announced this week that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has increased access for hunting and fishing on 2.1 million acres of federal land. The increase of recreational access is the largest expansion in recent history, spanning 88 National Wildlife Refuges and one National Fish Hatchery. This increase is part of President Biden’s America the Beautiful initiative that aims to conserve and restore 30% of lands and waters by 2030.
Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland stated of the expansion, “Increasing access to outdoor recreation opportunities is essential to advancing the Administration’s commitment to the conservation stewardship of our public lands. Responsible hunting and fishing helps to promote healthy wildlife habitats while boosting local recreation economies.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For leaders in the Interior Department as they support the president’s goal of conserving 30% of land and water by 2030.
- For Secretary Haaland to seek God’s wisdom to be an effective leader of the Department.
- For the Fish and Wildlife Service to protect the land entrusted in their care.
